In October 2020, while serving as a detention officer, Wilson performed a ‘leg sweep’ maneuver on inmate Robert Dale Robertson, who was handcuffed at the time. This action caused Robertson to fall, resulting in a cervical spine fracture that led to his death on October 24, 2020. Wilson was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter and misconduct in office. Additionally, in January 2023, Wilson and Anderson County settled a lawsuit after a former inmate alleged that Wilson assaulted him in the detention center in September 2020.
