Captain Milton Wolfe Jr. filed a lawsuit against the Houma Police Department in 2014, alleging mistreatment after opposing legislation that kept the police chief position exempt from civil service protection. Wolfe claimed he was removed from his position as chief of detectives in retaliation. The lawsuit named the police chief and parish president among the defendants.
