Former Deputy Mitchell Finney was convicted of deprivation of rights under color of law for assaulting a handcuffed patient at Grove Hill Hospital on May 11, 2019. After the patient spat in his direction, Finney punched him in the face and then sprayed him with pepper spray for an extended period. In January 2021, he was sentenced to three years of probation.
