    On December 15, 2020, Officer Montrell Jackson allegedly assaulted Brandon Kennedy outside a Family Dollar store after Kennedy expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Jackson reportedly slammed Kennedy’s face into the concrete multiple times. The incident led to a federal lawsuit, which was settled in December 2022 for $20,000. Jackson remains employed by the department.
