In May 2023, Officer Nicholas Roach, along with Officer Whitehead, allegedly assaulted inmate Jerry Minor in the shower area after Minor threw his underwear into the hallway. The assault included physical attacks that led to a federal lawsuit filed by Minor, alleging excessive force and civil rights violations. Roach was suspended and required to complete de-escalation training but remained employed with the department.
