The family of Jesús Uribe Corona plans to sue the town of Mammoth Lakes after police shot and killed the man, who was allegedly throwing rocks at cars on March 4. A video released by the Police Department shows Uribe, 39, fleeing before being shot. The family’s attorney, Will Horowitz, argues that the use of lethal force was unjustified, as Uribe had not thrown rocks at the police and was at a safe distance. Ashley Ramirez, mother of Uribe’s children, described his death as devastating. The California Department of Justice is investigating the shooting to determine if the officers will face criminal charges. The video also includes a 911 call and shows Uribe’s confrontation with officers, who shot him as he attempted to escape. SFGATE
