In 2019, Officer Adams was involved in a lawsuit filed by inmate Mr. Rowland, who alleged that Adams confiscated and destroyed his religious rune paper without notice or opportunity to be heard, violating his rights to due process and free exercise of religion. The court found that Adams was entitled to qualified immunity, shielding him from further litigation in this matter.
