On September 9, 2022, Officer Brockton Hayden responded as backup during the traffic stop of Gene Clemetson. Hayden allegedly leaned into Clemetson’s vehicle in a threatening manner, forcibly removed him, and handcuffed him without legal cause. Clemetson filed a federal lawsuit alleging racial discrimination and excessive force, seeking compensatory and punitive damages. The case is ongoing as of September 2024.
