During the early 1990s, Officer Chamberlain engaged in repeated sexual harassment of female colleagues, including making explicit comments and inquiries about their sexual preferences and anatomy. He also expressed beliefs that women could not serve effectively as shift commanders. Despite these actions, Chamberlain was promoted to a full-time officer position before eventually leaving the facility by 1993.
