In 2020, Officer Charles McKenna was involved in an incident where he and another officer forcibly removed a driver from his vehicle during a traffic stop. The driver alleged excessive force, including the use of OC spray. The case, Robinson v. City of Bessemer et al, was filed in 2021 and was ongoing as of 2024.
