On March 25, 2024, Officer Reinsch struck and killed pedestrian Katherine Colon while responding to a non-emergency burglary call. He was driving well above the speed limit without activating sirens or lights. The state’s attorney declined to press charges, but Colon’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Officer Reinsch and the City of New Britain.
