On December 2, 2017, Officer Don responded to a domestic complaint at the residence of Mr. Sharpe. Upon arrival, Officer Don allegedly broke the latch to the storm door and entered the home without permission. During the encounter, Officer Don reportedly used excessive force, including slamming Mr. Sharpe to the ground and pressing his face against the wall, causing pain and injury. Mr. Sharpe filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force and unlawful entry.
