In March 2010, Officer Dudley was involved in an incident where he allegedly used excessive force against a minor, identified as Henderson. Dudley reportedly struck Henderson multiple times with the butt of his gun, causing severe injuries that required hospitalization. Despite a formal complaint filed by Henderson’s mother, no disciplinary action was taken against Dudley. Additionally, Dudley attempted to charge Henderson with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest; however, these charges were subsequently dropped. A lawsuit was filed against Dudley and the City of Fairfield, alleging violations of constitutional rights and other claims. The court found that Dudley’s use of force was unreasonable and denied his claim of qualified immunity. The case highlighted issues within the Fairfield Police Department regarding the handling of excessive force complaints and officer accountability.
