During the second phase of field training from December 2001 to February 2002, Officer Stanfill, serving as a Field Training Officer, allegedly made inappropriate comments about Korean women, racial remarks about an African-American lieutenant, and gender-biased comments about female officers. He also allegedly asked a trainee if he had ever ‘sucked dick’ or wanted to. The trainee reported these comments as offensive. Despite these allegations, Stanfill passed the trainee to the next phase of training. The trainee later filed a grievance alleging hazing and inappropriate behavior, including the comments made by Stanfill. The case highlighted concerns about the conduct of training officers and the department’s response to allegations of misconduct.
