In October 2021, Officer Edmonds used a Taser multiple times on Jim Rogers during an arrest in Bloomfield. Rogers died the following day. Edmonds was fired in March 2022 for violating policies on search, handling prisoners, and use of force. An arbitrator ruled in his favor, but the city appealed to the Court of Common Pleas. Judge Hertzberg reversed the arbitrator’s decision, upholding Edmonds’ termination. The Fraternal Order of Police has appealed to the Commonwealth Court.
