In March 2024, Officer Larry, formerly with the Birmingham Police Department, was involved in an incident where he body-slammed a vulnerable veteran with dementia, leading to the veteran’s death months later. A judge dismissed the case without addressing the allegations of excessive force. Officer Larry was no longer employed by Birmingham as of September 2024 and subsequently joined the Graysville Police Department as a part-time officer. Graysville Police Chief McKinsley Marbury stated that the department opted to give Larry a second chance, noting his current performance as satisfactory.
