In December 2016, Officer Amasino was suspended for two days without pay for violations including improper response to a protective order violation, failure to use a wearable video recorder, insubordination, and tardiness. Shortly after, he fell asleep in his patrol car while on duty, triggering an alarm and leading to a civilian 911 call. Initially, Amasino provided false information about the incident. An internal affairs investigation found his conduct unbecoming of an officer. Facing potential termination and revocation of his certification, Amasino resigned in January 2017. He later filed a wrongful termination lawsuit, which was dismissed by the court.
