In November 2019, Officer Macias was implicated in the death of inmate Mr. Maes, who committed suicide while in custody. Macias was accused of deliberate indifference to Maes’s welfare, despite knowledge of his suicidal ideation and intoxicated state. Allegations included recording false sight checks and failing to act on the inmate’s suicidal behavior. Macias’s employment with the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office was terminated on or around November 17, 2019. A lawsuit was filed against him and other officials, alleging violations of constitutional rights under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

  • View the Blog: Read about documented police interactions
  • Share Your Experience: Submit your own police interaction story
  • Browse the Forums: Check if your local law enforcement has been documented

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
