On September 6, 2018, Officer Armstrong was charged with second and fourth-degree crimes for off-duty behavior. He was convicted on September 14, 2023, of second-degree hindering, third-degree terroristic threats, and third-degree attempted hindering. On November 3, 2023, he was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison and terminated from employment.
