In January 2019, Officer Nichting engaged in an unauthorized high-speed pursuit, reaching speeds over 70 mph without activating lights or sirens. He falsely reported that the pursuit did not occur, violating department policies on pursuits and truthfulness. Disciplinary actions were taken, but he remains employed with the department.
