In January 2012, Officer Scott arrested a woman named Windham at her residence. The arrest led to a lawsuit alleging false arrest and excessive force. Windham claimed that Officer Scott and another officer threw her to the ground twice and dragged her from the police cruiser, resulting in fractures, a torn ligament, and bruises. The court found that the officers lacked probable cause for the arrest and denied them qualified immunity at the Rule 12(b)(6) stage. The case highlighted concerns about the use of force and the justification for the arrest.
