In August 2022, Officer Wordsworth was involved in an incident where he allegedly failed to activate his body-worn camera during a traffic stop that led to claims of excessive force. The plaintiff alleges that officers forcibly removed him from his vehicle and physically assaulted him. The lawsuit claims that the failure to activate the body-worn camera was in line with a de facto policy of the department, contributing to violations of the Fourth Amendment, including unlawful stop, excessive force, unlawful arrest, and malicious prosecution.
