Deputy Paul Blankenship was arrested in October 2023 on twelve counts of soliciting nude photographs from underage girls and possession of such images. Prior to his hiring, a background check revealed potential criminal offenses, but he was hired nonetheless. The Monroe County Commission’s resolution alleged that Sheriff Jeff Jones was aware of these allegations but failed to take appropriate action. Blankenship resigned from his position following the charges.
