Officer Peter Beck has been accused of racially profiling and harassing Black residents in Lancaster County. In February 2020, while serving as a deputy with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Beck allegedly harassed Yokima Cureton and her husband during a traffic stop. Cureton filed a formal complaint with the Sheriff, but it is unclear what actions were taken. In September 2020, Cornell Jones reported that Beck pulled him over for a broken taillight, conducted an unauthorized search of his vehicle, and detained him when he attempted to record the incident. Jones filed a complaint, but the city and department later claimed they did not have a record of it. In March 2021, after multiple complaints from residents, Officer Beck was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into these allegations.
