    In December 2023, former Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Deputy Peter Collins was arrested after admitting to embezzling over $100,000 from the Douglas County Law Enforcement Association while serving as its treasurer between 2016 and 2023. He was charged with multiple counts, including first-degree aggravated theft, computer crime, fraudulent use of a credit card, falsifying business records, official misconduct, and first-degree forgery.
