On June 15, 2023, Deputy Jailer Randal Perritt, 58, of Arcadia, was arrested for malfeasance of office and six counts of simple battery. Surveillance footage showed Perritt entering an inmate’s cell without assistance, shoving the inmate against the wall four times, and slapping him twice with an open hand. Perritt initially denied the accusations but was placed on leave and subsequently arrested on June 21, 2023. This incident violated department protocols requiring deputies to have assistance when entering a cell.
