Officer Richard Rodriguez, along with Officer Molly O’Hara, is accused in a federal lawsuit filed on December 22, 2023, of using excessive force against Sheila Lee on December 25, 2020. Lee alleges that Rodriguez and O’Hara dragged her from her vehicle, threw her to the ground, and punched her, causing significant injuries including the loss of her front teeth. The lawsuit claims violations of Lee’s civil rights, false arrest, and malicious prosecution. The charges against Lee were dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office. The case is currently in mediation.
