On January 10, 2011, Officer Barrows was charged with domestic assault after allegedly shoving his girlfriend to the floor. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Following the incident, Barrows resigned from the Hinesburg Police Department on January 11, 2011. If convicted, he faced up to 18 months in prison.
