In July 2013, Officer Robert Giglio was involved in an incident where he shot and killed a resident’s dog named ‘T’ during a response to a harassment call. The dog’s owner, David Royal Lee, filed a lawsuit alleging that Giglio fired at both of his dogs without provocation and that the officers refused to provide aid to the wounded animal. The lawsuit also claimed that Lee was unlawfully detained when he attempted to seek medical attention for his dog. The case was eventually dismissed by the court.

On July 1, 2013, Officer Robert Giglio responded to a call at David Royal Lee’s residence. Upon arrival, Giglio fired his service pistol at Lee’s two dogs, hitting one named ‘T’ in the head and jaw. Lee alleged that Giglio and another officer refused to provide aid to the wounded dog, which subsequently died. Lee filed a lawsuit against the Town of Fort Mill and the officers, claiming unlawful seizure of his property and emotional distress. The court granted summary judgment in favor of the defendants, concluding that Giglio’s actions were reasonable under the circumstances.
