    Former Chief Ronald Lake was accused of persistent sexual harassment by former dispatcher and office administrator Alisha Beam. Allegations included making sexual comments, sending explicit photos and emails, and an incident of alleged sexual assault. Beam filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in 2020, which was settled in 2021 for $95,000, with the village admitting no liability.

    In addition to the sexual harassment allegations, former Chief Ronald Lake was involved in a 2019 investigation by the Vermont State Police into alleged improper conduct during a criminal investigation. The Attorney General’s office later found no credible evidence to support the allegations of misconduct.
