In August 2023, Officer Roy Golden was involved in an incident where he tased a non-aggressive 4-year-old bulldog named Rusty multiple times, pepper-sprayed the dog, and unholstered his firearm, threatening to shoot the animal. This event was captured on video and led to charges of animal cruelty and acts resulting in gross injury/outraging public decency. Following an internal investigation, Golden resigned from the department in February 2024. The Wagoner County District Attorney’s Office is continuing its prosecution of Mr. Golden.
