    Deputy Ryan Connolly is named in a civil rights lawsuit filed in February 2024, alleging excessive force against Malia Ashad. In August 2022, Ashad was hospitalized after being assaulted in a courtroom. While handcuffed to a hospital bed, Connolly allegedly grabbed her by the throat, pinned her down, and punched her in the head, causing her to lose consciousness. The lawsuit claims Connolly’s actions violated Ashad’s Fourth Amendment rights and resulted in physical and emotional injuries.
