In May 2022, Chief Samuel Keller was arrested for domestic battery after an incident at his home where he threw a full beer can at a woman, causing a cut under her right eye. He pleaded guilty the following day and resigned from his position. Keller was sentenced to probation until December 2022 and received a suspended 178-day jail sentence, with credit for two days served.
