In 2022, Officer Samuel Powell was named in a lawsuit alleging violations of the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clause. The plaintiff, Mr. Beaulieu, claimed that Officer Powell, along with other officers, prevented him from driving on a public street and failed to preserve or destroyed video footage of their encounter. The lawsuit also alleged that Officer Powell filed false reports of harassment against Mr. Beaulieu. The case was dismissed due to procedural issues with the plaintiff’s complaint.
