Deputy Scott Neu was accused of multiple instances of misconduct, including sexual assault allegations by detainees between 2004 and 2008, leading to a $95,000 settlement. In 2006, he was accused of breaking a prisoner’s ribs, but no disciplinary action was taken. Between 2014 and 2015, Neu allegedly forced inmates to fight each other, resulting in criminal charges that were later dropped due to destroyed evidence. The city settled related lawsuits for $90,000 in 2016 and $60,000 in 2018. Despite these incidents, Neu was reinstated to his position in 2024 after an arbitrator reduced his termination to a 90-day suspension.
