Former Lieutenant Scott Haines was involved in multiple misconduct incidents. In 2020, he was demoted from captain to lieutenant following a sexual harassment investigation. In July 2022, Haines pleaded guilty to making material false statements to the FBI during an elder exploitation investigation. He admitted to depositing rental payments from tenants of an elderly woman into his own bank account without authority. Additionally, he misused the National Crime Information Center database for personal purposes. In November 2022, Haines was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison, followed by one year of supervised release. He also relinquished his criminal justice certifications.
