In October 2020, Sergeant Wilmot was involved in an incident where inmate Donna Christensen exhibited disruptive behavior, including kicking her cell door and throwing a food container. Wilmot entered the cell, removed Christensen’s mattress and blanket as a sanction, and physically restrained her against the bunk for approximately 10 seconds. This incident was part of a series of events leading up to Christensen’s suicide in the Vilas County jail, resulting in a lawsuit alleging inadequate mental health care and supervision. The case, Christensen v. Weiss, was filed in 2022 and is ongoing.
