In May 2019, Sergeant Chrz, along with Officer Schoeffler, responded to a call from Jean Coppedge, a Black resident, who reported being assaulted by her neighbors. Coppedge alleged that Sergeant Chrz conducted a biased investigation, solicited negative comments about her from neighbors who weren’t witnesses, and created an inaccurate police report portraying her as the aggressor. This report was allegedly used by her landlord to evict her. A federal lawsuit was filed, and the city settled for $90,000 in July 2022.
