Filed a lawsuit in May 2024 alleging retaliation for reporting excessive force and substandard conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center. Claimed that officers expressed racist views and saw detainees as ‘the enemy.’ After providing photographs of the conditions to a news outlet, Mason was placed on administrative leave and eventually fired in late 2022. The lawsuit seeks damages and reinstatement of employment.
