On January 19, 2024, Sergeant Scott Hopper was the subject of a complaint alleging abuse of authority. The complainant reported that while changing a tire, an off-duty officer, identified as Hopper, pulled in front of their vehicle, activated his lights, and pointed a gun at them with intent to shoot. Hopper allegedly demanded identification at gunpoint without displaying a badge or other police identification. After realizing the individual was not the person he was seeking, Hopper reportedly told them to leave. The complainant stated that this incident caused significant distress and fear.
