Involved in three off-duty single-vehicle accidents between 2006 and 2009. The first accident occurred in Enfield, with possible alcohol involvement; Van Tasel passed a field sobriety test and was released to a fellow officer. The second accident in Somers resulted in a warning for ‘traveling too fast for conditions.’ The third accident, also in Somers, led to counseling by the police chief.
