In April 2014, Sergeant William Zincio, a 17-year veteran of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, pleaded guilty to official misconduct, a class A misdemeanor. He falsified official documents by indicating he was working while actually on vacation, resulting in being paid for work he did not perform. Zincio resigned from his position and was required to make restitution to Columbia County in the amount of $3,399.70.
