In 2021, Sgt. David McNeice was terminated for pursuing a suspect into Massachusetts at speeds exceeding 100 mph and making an arrest across state lines. He contested the termination, leading to a settlement in 2022 where his termination was reversed, allowing him to resign and receive a disability retirement. The settlement included a release of all claims against the town. The department referred him to a state panel to consider revoking his police officer certification.
