Between November 2013 and January 2015, Sgt. Dean Covis filed false time sheets indicating he was working for a private security company while simultaneously on duty at the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office. This led to charges of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, both felonies. Covis was placed on administrative leave pending further internal investigation.
