On November 29, 2020, after consuming alcohol at a Kalispell brewery, Sgt. Logan Shawback was involved in a high-speed collision while driving an unmarked sheriff’s office vehicle. Although his blood alcohol concentration was below the legal limit when tested two hours post-incident, he violated department policy by consuming alcohol while on duty in an undercover capacity. As a result, Sgt. Shawback was placed on unpaid administrative leave, removed from the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force, and disqualified from specialized units, effectively reducing his pay.
