In 2012, Sgt. Richardson was implicated in a lawsuit alleging pregnancy discrimination against Officer Stephanie Hicks. Richardson expressed displeasure over Hicks taking full maternity leave, used derogatory language referring to her, and initiated disciplinary actions leading to Hicks’ transfer from the narcotics unit to patrol. The court found sufficient evidence of discriminatory animus related to Hicks’ pregnancy, leading to a jury trial on the matter.
