In 2006, Deputy Shane Jones was terminated after being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) while off duty. An internal investigation found that Jones repeatedly lied to Washington State Patrol troopers during the arrest and attempted to leverage his position for preferential treatment. Despite these findings, an arbitrator reinstated him, citing inconsistent disciplinary actions within the department. Jones resigned in 2017 following another DUI accusation. In December 2019, he was arrested again for DUI after driving erratically and exhibiting signs of impairment; subsequent blood tests revealed the presence of Alprazolam (Xanax) in his system.
