In November 2012, Corrections Officer Shane Thomas was involved in an incident where he struck a handcuffed inmate in the head during a struggle. The inmate had refused to wear his jail uniform and threatened Thomas and his family. Despite the District Attorney’s Office finding Thomas’s actions justified, Sheriff Guy Desjardins suspended him for three days without pay, citing a violation of the jail’s use of force policy.
