In September 2023, the Louisiana Board of Ethics charged Sheriff Bobby Guidroz with ethics violations for authorizing over $1.6 million in payments to the Dupre-Carrier-Godchaux Agency, in which his son-in-law, Willie Godchaux, holds a 31.5% indirect ownership. This action allegedly violated state ethics laws prohibiting public servants from engaging in transactions where immediate family members have a substantial economic interest. The case is pending before the Ethics Adjudicatory Board.
