In September 2015, Sheriff Frank Skrah was indicted on nine misdemeanor charges related to allegations of excessive force. The charges included harassment, official misconduct, strangulation, assault, and attempted assault, stemming from incidents between February 2013 and February 2015. Specific allegations included holding a flashlight against a man’s throat and applying pressure to another man’s throat with his hands. As a condition of his release, Sheriff Skrah was prohibited from patrolling, participating in traffic stops, or having contact with inmates or suspects. He declined to comment on the charges at the time.
